TOEFL

The Toefl Exam

Administered by ETS, the TOEFL exam is used by English-speaking programs to assess English proficiency (examinee’s ability to communicate and comprehend English in written and spoken form). Oftentimes, the exam is required along with other standardized tests, such as the SAT, GRE and GMAT. The test is offered in Israel every ten days; Yeda Plus centers in Ramat Gan and Haifa also administer the exam on Saturdays.

Toefl Exam Structure

The four-hour long Toefl exam is comprised of four sections, with a maximum score of 120. The test is computerized.

Listening (30 points) –listening to a short semi-academic conversation/lecture and answer multiple-choice questions; headphones are provided

Speaking (30 points) – speaking about a familiar topic (independent) and about a topic covered in a passage and listening assignment (integrated); microphone is provided

Writing (30 points) – writing a short essay about a familiar topic (Independent) and about a topic covered in a short passage (Integrated).

How Does Our Toefl Course Work?

Our core TOEFL course includes 32 hours of frontal lectures and in-class practice. In every class we practice speaking skills. Homework is assigned every week, creating an extremely effective learning process. You can repeat the course free-of-charge for an ENTIRE YEAR to ensure that you obtain the grade you need!

All students send essays for grading and in-depth feedback on grammar and content; instructors are available via phone and email for questions.

What Makes Us Different

What differentiates us from other TOEFL schools is the personal attention we give to each student and our level of teaching. We believe in working on skills over time; this has earned us the reputation of Israel’s top TOEFL school: we collaborate with Fulbright, the Jewish Agency, IDC Herzliya, University of Haifa and Hebrew University. Yeda Plus is a hub of knowledge – our course is a great platform for meeting other applicants, exchanging ideas and even meeting new friends to study with. Yeda Plus staff members are all native English speakers, including full-time undergraduate and graduate advisers who can answer your every question, however small or technical. Additionally, we provide all students with feedback on application documents and every month run an Application Skills Workshop taught by Yeda Plus Director Andrea Lang-Raz (M.A. Columbia, Technion Distinguished Lecturer) – all of which free of charge to all Yeda Plus students.
