Psychometric Exam Structure
The psychometric test in Israel is comprised of eight 20-minute long sections, 20-22 multiple choice questions each. Total exam time: 2 hours 40 minutes. Only six of the sections are graded. The six sectionsP that make up your score are:
- Two quantitative reasoning sections;
- Two verbal reasoning sections;
- Two English sections.
However, the quantitative and verbal reasoning sections determine 40% of the final score each (80% total), while the English sections only determine 20% of the score. The final score is on a 200-800 scale.

Undergraduate Admissions 101
The Psychometric test is the main requirement for applying to institutions of higher education in Israel. Admissions committees use the Psychometric score as the main criterion for evaluating applicants’ academic promise. The combined English / Hebrew version of the test is offered only twice a year: February and July. Lastly and conveniently, the test is valid for up to seven years!
“What if I don’t get my desired grade in the psychometric test?”
The English Psychometric is a challenging exam for both Israelis and Americans, so preparing for it may take some time. Do not worry – all students at Yeda Plus can repeat the course for a full year free of charge. Unlike other schools, we don’t believe in just promising that “you’ll have your money back if you don’t get the grade you need,” since this depends on your commitment. Instead, we give you all the time and resources you need to get there.
“I want to apply to schools this upcoming year. When should I start my English Psychometric course?”
You can do anything and within every time-frame – but the question is how effectively. We recommend at least one year in advance; this will allow you to prepare most effectively and, if need be, repeat the course and take the test again to improve your score.
“I want to study in America. Can I use the English Psychometric exam?”
The English Psychometric is only applicable to schools in Israel. If you are considering studying in the United States or want to keep your options open, you should take the SAT as it affords you the option of applying to schools in the US and Israel (see SAT page for more details).
“I have test anxiety. Can you help?”
Many of our students suffer from this problem. The best remedy is proper preparation – practice makes perfect! Additionally, our teachers can help you work through you problems to ensure that your anxiety interferes as little as possible with your performance.
“I have a disability, and am eligible for accommodations such as extra time. How do I claim these?”
If you have any disability, it is imperative that you take the test with accommodations so your score doesn’t suffer. We’d be happy to help you through the process.
